Home sweet home. That was the case for the PCM girls’ soccer team yesterday, as they dominated in their home opener 9-0 over Grandview Christian.

The Mustangs wasted no time jumping on the Thunder, as Shaylee Shendenhelm found the back of the net in the first minute of the game off of a corner kick from Annalee Workman. Shendenhelm cashed in on one more goal in the first half and Valentine Veighe added a pair of scores to make the tally 4-0 at half. Emma George put a dagger in any hopes for a Thunder comeback, as she opened the second half with a pair of goals. The rout was on when the Mustangs added scores from Abby Jones, Mollie Greve, and Sara Dudley. Head Coach Bill Sowder tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that all around it was a team effort and they did a much better job in controlling the game.

The Mustangs pick up their first win of the year to move to 1-1 and will look for a win streak Tuesday when they welcome Des Moines Christian to town.
