A nomination featuring the home and farmstead of Vermeer Corporation Founders, Gary and Matilda Vermeer, was recently submitted to and approved by the State National Register Nomination Review Committee (SNRC).

As such, it will be forwarded for final consideration by the National Park Service in Washington D.C. for the National Register of Historic Places. Properties listed in the National Register are significant in American history, architecture, archaeology, engineering and culture. The Founders’ house, located at 1688 Adams Avenue in Pella, just east of Vermeer Corporation, has been renovated to preserve its originality and share the unique character of a couple whose philosophy is still evident in the home and company they created.

Museum-style displays in the house tell the story of the family who lived there, with space intended for future customer visits, company retreat activities and special team events.
