It was a short night in Jefferson for the Heart of Iowa Conference track meet, as lightning called off the competition halfway through events.

The meet was called after the 400m hurdles and the PCM girls’ were in second place at the time with 97 points. North Polk was leading with 122. Margo Chipps was a conference champion in the 400m hurdles (1:08.39) along with the 4x200m relay team (1:50.37) and sprint medley relay (1:55.19). Payton Schut in the 400m and the 4x800m relay team garnered second place honors.

The boys were tied for sixth with 36 points while Gilbert was leading with 111. Preston VanWyk had the top finish placing second in the 100m dash (11.85). Blake Lee was fourth in the 400m dash.

Both teams get back on the track tomorrow in Newton.
