It is no surprise the Lady Dutch track team once again dominated the Little Hawkeye Conference meet yesterday.

Pella scored 170 team points to yet another big win for the program at the annual event. Top place winners for Pella include:

Annika Pingel – 200 meter dash (25.32)
Caroline McMartin – 1500 meter dash (5:16.25), 3000 meters (11:09.93)
Emily Holterhaus – 400 meter hurdles (1:07.62)
Kaeleigh DeWaard – Shotput (37 feet 11 inches)
4×100 – 50.51 (Metsje Miller, Evie Armstrong, Paighton Malek, Annika Pingel)
4×200 – 1:46.99 (Metsje Miller, Paighton Malek, Elsie Thoreson, Annika Pingel)
Sprint Medley – 1:52.03 (Evie Armstrong, Paighton Malek, Elsie Thoreson, Annika Pingel)

Pella’s boys placed 2nd in a competitive boys field, highlighted by DCG, who took first with 177 points. First place finishers for the Little Dutch include:

Avery Van Zee – 400 meter hurdles (55.82)
Kody Huisman – discus (153-01)
Nick DeJong – shotput (51-10)
Shuttle Hurdle Relays – 59.87 (Gabe Thomas, Curtis Ware, Jordan Buma, Avery VanZee)

Pella Christian also had numerous quality times posted, highlighted by the Eagles girls winning Distance Medley team Erica Nikkel, Mary Kate Bandstra, Morgan Fopma, and Emma Kolb with a time of 4:31.4. The girls finished with 64 team points and the boys had 41 accumulated. The Eagles boys 4×100 and 4×200 relays each nabbed 2nd place finishes behind meet champions DCG.

Both Pella and Pella Christian return to action Monday at the Pella High School Invitational to tune up for state qualifying.
