The race that kicks off Tulip Time in Pella was not run due to the chance of strong thunderstorms near race time.

Crossroads of Pella was planning to hold the 25th annual Klompen Classic, with over 2300 participants looking to run and walk in the 5K event. Director of Crossroads Jim Hibma says while it’s disappointing they had to cancel, he’s humbled by the overwhelming support of Crossroads of Pella.

“The motto this year was to cross the finish line to help others,” he says. “So obviously we can’t obviously cross the finish line, but figuratively, everyone who participated and gave and got a t-shirt really is giving to help others in the community.”

Hibma says he looks forward to seeing everyone sign up for year 26 in 2019.
