Stifling defense continues to fuel the Pella Christian girls soccer team, and did so Saturday when they swept the North Polk tournament in Alleman.

The Eagles defeated PCM in game one 3-1, and defeated the host Comets 1-0 after winning penalty kicks 4-3. Lindsey Breon, Emma Dunsbergen, and Laura DeZwarte all scored for the Eagles, and Breon hit the clinching penalty kick against North Polk.

Head Coach Mike Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the defenders and goalkeeper Bekah Horstman continue to respond to a difficult schedule and have kept Pella Christian in most of their games.

Eight of their eleven opponents this season have been ranked in Class 1A and 2A, but the Eagles D still boasts a school record 1.238 goals allowed per game.

Pella Christian, now 6-5, hits the road to 7-4 Ballard today.

Despite holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Pella Christian boys fell to PCM after the Mustangs scored five goals in the second period to win 5-3. Misha Seebeck scored a hat trick for the Mustangs.
