Knoxville Police Officers who see children wearing helmets while riding bikes, crossing the street safely, and being safe in general while outside during summer vacation, will be issuing “tickets”.

Knoxville School Resource Officer Kyle Keller tells KNIA/KRLS News it is important for the Knoxville Police Department to participate in this because no one wants to respond to an accident where a kid was not wearing a helmet, even a slight bump from a car could send a child flying. The tickets will be for a free dessert from any one of Kone Korner, Subway, McDonalds, and Casey’s General Store. The Knoxville Police Department, in conjunction with other local sponsors, will also be performing helmet checks during the “Helmets and Hot Dogs” bike safety event coming on June 4th.
