After a busy first week of the season, the Pleasantville summer teams will get back on the diamond tonight welcoming Martensdale-St. Marys to town.

The softball team (4-2) started up the first week red-hot winning their first four contests before being swept by Eddyville-Blakesburg on Saturday. The offense is off to a fast start averaging eight runs per game including utilizing the long ball. The team already has four bombs on the year including a pair from Kinzi McGriff. That offense will need to be on display against the Blue Devils (5-0), as they have only given up an average of two runs per contest.

The baseball team finished the week strong winners of two straight in back-to-back shutouts. No pitching performance in the state has been more impressive than what Quintin Berglund did on Friday, as he struck out a mind-blowing 19 batters and only gave up three hits in seven scoreless frames. Solid pitching will be needed today, as Martensdale St. Marys (5-1) has averaged an impressive 11 runs per game.

Both games get started at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Pleasantville.
