Missed opportunities was the key factor in turning a high-scoring, but close game, into an Indianola rout for the Pella Christian boys in a 14-4 loss heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Eagles struck with a quick run in the top of the first and a clean bottom half of the frame, before the Indians nabbed a 5-spot in the bottom of the 2nd.

Will Dembski obliterated a baseball to bring the game back within one, before another two-run frame from Indianola.

From there, a runner thrown out in the top of the 4th with the top of the order looming on a double, followed by a bases-loaded, inning-ending double play for the Eagles offense killed a potential tying or game-leading rally. The Indians answered with seven unanswered runs to end the game in five innings.

Dembski finished 2-2 with the home run, Luke Mulder had a single and a double, and Kade Vander Molen scored twice from the top of the order. Pella Christian falls to 4-4. The Eagles softball team fell 6-1 and 13-3 in six innings in a doubleheader at Indianola as well. They are 0-10, and the softball team traveling to Colfax-Mingo tonight.
