Special Olympics athletes from around the region competed at the State Track and Summer Games event at Iowa State University recently.
Thirteen individual athletes, and two team events, came home with a medal in 18 competitions. The Summer Games are Special Olympics Iowa’s largest event of the year, with more than 2,600 athletes, 1,200 coaches, and 2,000 volunteers working for the three day event. Frank Long/Knoxville: 7th Place – Softball Throw
Stacia Mason/Knoxville: Bronze Medal – Softball Throw, Silver Medal – Cycling 250m Modified
Ashley Morrow/Indianola: Silver Medal – 100m Dash
Tanji O’Connor/Indianola: Bronze Medal – Standing Long Jump
Tegan Ripperger/Pleasantville: Gold Medal – Softball Throw
Marissa Schletzbaum/Pleasantville: Silver Medal – 100m Dash
Michelle Turnage/Pleasantville: Gold Medal – 50m Dash
