It was a successful night for the Pleasantville summer teams, as both squads came away with road victories over I-35.
The Pleasantville softball team got some late inning magic to pull out a 6-5 win in eight innings. The Trojans trailed 5-3 heading into the final frame when they managed a pair of RBI doubles by Faith Vanderhart and Mackenzie McGriff to push the game to extras. Andie Sowers was the hero in the eighth with a base hit to plate Josie Sowers for the winning run. Abbie DeJoode got the win in the circle with three relief innings striking out five and walking three. The Trojans improve to 8-6 on the season and will look to keep it rolling today traveling to Woodward-Granger for a tournament.
The Trojan baseball team came out on top 5-1 to pick up their 10th straight win. The name of the game in the win streak has been pitching and that didn’t change Thursday, as Quintin Berglund tossed six strong frames. He closed the book giving up just two hits, no earned runs, and four strikeouts. This was an encore performance from a 19-strikeout game last week and followed a no-hitter from Kyle Amendt earlier in the week. Berglund was also able to help himself at the plate going 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Colton Major added a hit and two runs knocked in. The Trojans move to 10-2 on the season and will travel to Colo-NESCO for a tournament tomorrow.
