The PCM summer teams ran into a buzz saw Monday night, as both teams fell to Heart of Iowa Conference frontrunner North Polk.

Despite both squads managing seven hits in the softball game, the Comets took advantage of opportunities to win 11-1 in six innings. PCM head coach Scott Bridges tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the difference was they could not capitalize with runners on while the Comets cashed in. Regan Freland led the team going 2-for-3. Kenzie Johnson took the loss in the circle. The Mustangs drop to 2-5 on the season.

In the baseball game the Mustangs hung tough trailing 1-0 after three innings, but the Comets exploded for 12 runs in the next two frames to win 13-1 in five. Olin Meinders drove in the Mustang only run with a sac fly in the fourth to plate Noah Henkenius. Dane Owens took the loss on the bump. PCM is now 5-5 on the year.

Both teams will get back on the diamond tomorrow hosting Roland-Story.
