A registered sex offender was arrested in Knoxville recently for entering an exclusionary zone.

According to court documents, Knoxville Police Officers were dispatched after receiving a report that Kevin Weldon, a 26-year-old registered sex offender of Knoxville, was on the premises of a location he was not allowed to be present at. Officers arrived on scene and located Weldon loitering outside the front door, where Weldon claimed he did not have a “radius” as part of his conditions and was allowed to be there. After contacting the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Police learned Weldon was violating the conditions of the sex offender registry by being at the location. Weldon is charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry restrictions second offense, a class D felony.
