It was a battle of two area schools on Tuesday night in Knoxville, as the Panther softball team had a comeback win against PCM 6-4.

As heard on KNIA, the Mustangs threw the first punch scratching across a run in each of the first two innings on a RBI single by Camryn Wignall and a towering solo home run off the bat of Belle Hudnut. The Panthers came alive in the third inning to tie the game on the strength of four hits including RBI knocks by Hannah Hauschildt and Maddy Findley. The Mustangs were not phased however, retaking the lead in the next inning on a RBI groundout by Madison Foster. The difference in the contest came in the fifth when the Panthers put up a four spot including a line shot two run jack to left field from Alex Griggs. PCM made a push in the sixth but came up short and Knoxville escaped with the non-conference win. Emery Neer’s speed was on display leading the Panthers with three hits on three bunt singles and five stolen bases. Maddy Findley added a pair of hits and RBI. Camryn Wignall going 3-for-3 with one RBI led the Mustangs.

PCM falls to 2-13 on the season and host North Polk on Friday. Knoxville stays above .500 to improve to 12-10 and have an unusual doubleheader today traveling to both Osceola to face Clarke and then to Chariton.
