Four Marion County athletes received 1st team all-state recognition from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Ethan Poulter, Lucas Warner, and Joe Bacon of Pella, and Hunter Ohannessian of Knoxville all earned the top honor for their senior seasons.

It’s the latest in a number of postseason honors for Poulter, who received All Tournament recognition at state and was named the Iowa High School Soccer Player of the Year by the Des Moines Register. Poulter scored 37 goals this year, which was best in Class 2A.

Warner and Bacon were the anchors of a Pella defense that only allowed 14 goals in their 20 games, shutout ten teams, and only gave up one goal in regulation at the state tournament. Bacon was captain of the 2A All Tournament team as well. Head Coach Mark Solomon tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the defense was biggest key to winning their 1st-ever state championship.

Hunter Ohannessian was a senior defender on the 13-5 Knoxville Panthers team and helped them shut out seven opponents.
