The PCM baseball and softball teams came out on the losing end against Heart of Iowa Conference foe North Polk last night.

In the baseball contest the Mustangs were edged in a pitcher’s duel 3-2. Trailing 3-0 heading into the sixth inning the Mustangs put together a late rally with a pair of runs but too little, too late against the Comets. Preston Van Wyk went 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the offense and Olin Meinders also had two hits. Noah Henkenius went six innings on the mound giving up six hits and three earned runs. PCM falls to 9-11 and travels to Jefferson to face Greene County today.

The softball team could not recover from a tough start to fall 8-2 to the Comets. The Mustangs close the regular season at 2-14 and will start up the postseason Tuesday against Clarke.
