The Pella City Council is holding a public hearing this evening for a planned unit development (PUD) agreement for a unique row of housing proposed on the 400 block of Franklin Street. A proposal from Larry DeVries was approved by council in February for a row of townhouses built in a unique, Dutch-inspired style, but DeVries instead now plans to build single family homes, still with many of the design concepts in place.
The PUD ordinance between the city and DeVries outlines changes to code required for the houses to be built. Also at the meeting, the Pella City Council will have a public hearing for an ordinance allowing microbreweries in commercial zones outside of the central business district, and review an ordinance allowing those under the age of 21 into businesses with class A and B liquor licenses when accompanied by a legal-age adult. Three resolutions to accept the Truman Road water main relocation and runway repairs the municipal airport, as well an engineering services contract for HVAC repairs at the Pella Police Department, are all under consideration.
The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. this evening in the Public Safety Complex.
