Pella wrapped up the baseball conference season with a split on the road in Norwalk last night, losing 14-5 in game one and taking game two 5-2.
The Little Dutch fell behind in the opener 6-0, before battling back to 6-5, but Head Coach Jesse Jablonski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports defensive miscues spelled doom as the Warrior scored eight unanswered runs.
Jaden Rolffs continued swinging an on-fire bat, collecting a double and home run in game one. Rolffs is hitting .538 since June 15th with 15 extra base hits in 52 at bats. Landon Vander Leest was roughed up in the losing effort, giving up six earned runs.
Pella rallied back to win game two behind a gem of a game from Freshman Ryan Mace on the mound, as he tossed a complete game six-hitter. Gabe Thomas and Aaron Downs each tallied two hits, with Thomas knocking in a pair of runs and Downs tacking on a double.
The Little Dutch now stand at 17-13, and finishes at least a tie for 3rd place in the Little Hawkeye Conference behind runaway champions Indianola and runners-up Oskaloosa. Pella hits the road to Perry on Monday.
