The summer heat combined with several severe thunderstorms has caused damage to many Marion County roads in the past weeks.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News the road department is working as fast as possible to maintain and fix the roads from heat because blowups can happen with concrete and asphalt and there are a lot of roads to maintain so crews are out and at the minimum putting a temporary fix in place. Christian also said that some damage may not be directly visible during storms, so if anything seems unsafe, drivers should take necessary precautions. If you notice any road damage, please contact the Marion County Road Department at 828-2225 or the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 828-2220.
