Former Knoxville Football Coach Lonnie Powers is going into the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March. Powers coached the Panthers from 2001-2007 compiling a 33-29 record. Arguably his two greatest wins were over Pella in his first season when Knoxville prevailed 10-6 and beat Pella to stop a 16 game losing streak against the Little Dutch, and in 2003 when Knoxville shocked Grinnell 20-19 to beat the Tigers for the first time since 1958. Powers also coached at Lone Tree and WACO High Schools, winning a state title in 1982, his first season at Lone Tree. The induction ceremony will take place at Prairie Meadows in Altoona in March.
