The change of venue motion filed by the defense in the Jason Carter murder trial has been granted by Judge Brad McCall.
The motion made by the defense was that the unique circumstances of the case involving the civil trial and extensive coverage from local and Des Moines media would make jury selection impossible. County Attorney Ed Bull disagreed, arguing that media coverage of the event wasn’t sensational, rather, it was normal coverage of a sensational case. The new location for the trial has not yet been released.
