A Knoxville woman was arrested on numerous forgery and theft charges Friday.
According to court records, Tabitha Norton, 45, deposited numerous checks without permission into a victim’s bank account in 2016 while the victim was in prison and made multiple purchases with the victim’s debit card. Knoxville Police were made aware of the deposits and purchases in June of 2018, with Norton telling police that the defendant had given her permission to use the account while the victim was in prison, while the victim stated to police that Norton did not have permission. Norton is charged with theft in the 1st degree, a class C felony, and eight counts of forgery, each a class D felony.
