One of the goals this season for the Knoxville Baseball Squad was as always to win the South Central Conference title. Coach Matt Miller and the team knew it would be tough with a very good Centerville team and an improved Eddyville-Blakesburg this season. Added to that were late season rainouts that compressed the season into a five game conference slate to finish out the championship. Coach Miller told KNIA/KRLS Sports his staff did a great job helping plan out the pitching rotation and the players earned the title, that may have surprised many on the outside. Knoxville finished with a 16-2 conference record losing twice to runner-up Centerville. The Big Reds lost to Knoxville and twice to Eddyville, the last one was what put Knoxville ahead to Centerville. The Panthers will head into the class 3A district on Friday with a 29-11 record winners of nine in a row and 15 of their last 16 games.
