Improving defense was a big key for success in Pella Christian turning around their season this summer.
After graduating six senior in 2017 at key positions, the Eagles had to shuffle the decks numerous times throughout the year. The only player to find a home in a role she played previously was Amanda Harrill, but only when younger sister Natalie emerged as an eighth-grade varsity regular at 2nd base. Ivy Terpstra and Sophie Howeryzl moved a great distance from previous positions, with Howerzyl moving to catcher from shortstop and Terpstra shuffling from right field to 3rd base.
Pella Christian finished the year at 11-23 in the third round of the 2A regional playoffs.
