Our countdown of the best moments at Pella High School continues with No. 7.

A 2nd place finish at state marked the end of the best season of girls tennis at Pella High School in program history. Graduated seniors Bronwyn Metcalf and Cecily Johnson tell KNIA/KRLS Sports the finish marks the culmination of a huge culture turnaround for the team, as when they were in middle school, tennis struggled to find wins.

“The [high school teams’] overall score in our eighth grade year was a losing score, they lost the majority of the matches[…]and immediately, when Cecily and I’s grade got to the high school, we had a winning score,” Metcalf says.

Pella won every duel and tournament during the regular season, with their only team loss coming in the championship finals.
