Pella Regional Health Center announced that Pat Dykstra in Surgery is a DAISY recipient.
The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration that the nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Pat Dykstra’s nomination:
“Pat is a nurse who gives exemplary care every single day. She provides thorough care for our surgical patients, alleviating fears and anxieties which are often present before surgery. She always has a smile for all her patients, external clients and coworkers. She will lend assistance even when it is not needed. Pat is frequently utilized as a resource of information due to her years of service and that she loves the opportunity to teach others. She has been called the “Energizer Bunny,” as she works hard not only while at work, but is involved in many activities outside of work. Pat is instrumental to the success of our department as she models the Christian compassion stated in our mission statement. We are blessed to have Pat as part of our team.”
Dykstra received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
