The number two Pella Christian moment from 2017-18 takes us to the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.

After qualifying for the final four in Class 1A for the first time in program history, the Eagles had a very familiar opponent across the field when they began their journey in Cedar Falls.

Perennial powerhouse Regina squared off with the Eagles in what had to be Deja Vu for many remembering their matchup in the 2016 quarterfinals. Both teams traded big plays in the first half, but Regina pulled away in the 3rd quarter and had a 16 point lead late in the period.

Pella Christian came roaring back in a similar fashion to their 2016 game, with the Eagles scoring twice in the final period to bring the score within two, and Hayden Vroom intercepting a pass with over four minutes left in regulation.

But the Eagles dropped a pass in the end-zone and missed two field goals in the final four minutes, and could not find the points to send them to the 1A title game. So for the second year in a row, the Pella Christian football season ended with a two point loss to the Regals, this time 37-35. The Eagles travel to Iowa City for a rematch in week three this fall.
