A new high school sports season has dawned in Marion County as practice officially starts for football, volleyball, and cross country athletes today.
In the Tulip City, there is two weeks between the first practice and the first activities. On Tuesday, August 21st, the Pella cross country boys and girls kick off the competitive season at Ankeny Centennial, while the Lady Dutch volleyball team begins their quest for a fourth straight trip to state when they host Ballard in the opener.
Pella Christian heads to the Iowa State University cross country invitational with two dozen other teams on Thursday, August 23rd. Eagles Volleyball kicks off the season on Saturday, August 25th when they head to the Bondurant tournament.
Both the Little Dutch and Eagles football teams open their seasons on Friday, August 24th, when Pella travels to DCG, and Pella Christian hosts Oskaloosa. Don’t miss any football action this season, as every play can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and on the KRLS and KRLS2 online streams at kniakrls.com and the free mobile apps.
