When the Pleasantville football team hits the gridiron for the first time on August 24th against Lynnville-Sully, many players will be getting their first taste of varsity ball. While the young 2018 Trojans have a lack of experience, that doesn’t mean they have had a lack of success in the past.
To compliment a state quarterfinal varsity team a year ago, the junior varsity team made some noise as well supporting an undefeated record. In fact, the JV program hasn’t suffered a loss since the 2015 season. The players on those teams will now look to replicate that success at the varsity level, where they replace all but on starter from an 8-3 team that lost 18 players to graduation. Athletic Director Jeff Cook tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the young group has potential.
“We only have two or three players with varsity experience but I think we have some quality football players coming up. This part of the fall is exciting because you see early on what individuals are going to step up and put their face on the program.”
Grant Fouch is the only starter returning playing both ways a year ago. The first peek at the new look Trojans will be Friday when they battle PCM in a scrimmage.
