The “Road Diet” was passed by the Knoxville City Council at their most recent meeting Monday, with the City Hall council chambers filled with a standing room only crowd to voice their concerns about the project.
Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News despite the opposition to the project from several of the speakers, he is glad residents got involved and even though they may be disappointed with the outcome, the council did take their concerns into consideration but it’s difficult to go against concrete numbers and data that shows the change is going to be safer.
Adams also said that if you want to learn more about the difficulties of what kinds of decisions City Council has to go through on a weekly basis you should consider joining the Knoxville Leadership Academy. Information on the KLA can be found on the city website.
