With school returning for most area students this week, local law enforcement is reminding everyone to stay safe on all roadways.
Lt. Paul Haase with the Pella Police Department tells KNIA/KRLS News everyone should use caution, especially around school buildings, as classes begin for Pella and Pella Christian and all area schools over the next week.
“Whether you work here in town or wherever you might be, during those school traffic times–we’re talking seven to 8:30 in the morning and 3 o’clock until 4:30 after school, there’s going to be additional people on the roadway,” Haase says. “With additional people on the roadway, comes additional pedestrians crossing at crosswalks, and at the time of the year that it’s nice out, we’re going to have bicyclists out and about, so we just really encourage everyone to stay off their phones, take that extra minute and slow down.”
