The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.
The board accepted a recommendation from a selection committee to approve Triple R Driving School as the district’s driver’s education provider instead of Training Wheels. During the public comment period, owner of Training Wheels Cindy Hauschildt asked the board to turn down the recommendation, citing that the selection committee did not take the fact that she was a local business into account, and that she cares deeply for the students she would be teaching.
The board ultimately voted 3-0 in favor of a one-year contract with Triple R Driving School, with Vickie Reed and Marty Duffy abstaining. The board accepted the coach/sponsor handbook, approved an overnight trip for the dance team to attend the state meet, and approved an accompanying fundraiser dance clinic at the RVTV event. The board also toured the schools before adjourning.
