The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce held a Lunch and Learn event Tuesday, focusing on employee retention.
Participants saw presentations on the Future Ready Iowa Initiative from the Knoxville Community School District, how to connect workers to opportunities and employers to workforce solutions from Iowa Workforce Development, and on hiring workers with disabilities from Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation. Executive Director of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Hannah Vander Veer tells KNIA/KRLS News some of the difficulties for Marion County businesses are good for the employees because currently the county has a 2% unemployment rate which makes things very competitive and the lunch and learn tried to provide businesses creative ways to obtain and retain employees. The next lunch and learn will be on Tuesday, September 18th.
