Three first quarter rushing touchdowns, and five in the first half, propelled the Central College football team to a 35-3 halftime lead and an eventual 49-3 season opening victory over Northwestern Saturday in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
The Dutch outgained the Eagles 426-251, rushing for 300 yards on the day.  Nathan Fitzgerald led the way with 89 yards and two scores, while Blaine Hawkins added two scores and went 14-21 passing for 130 yards and another touchdown.
Defensively, Jordy Borman, playing in his home state of Minnesota, intercepted three Northwestern passes, and Cade Humphries topped the tackle chart with 6.5.
Central starts the season 1-0 and will head to Greencastle, Indiana next Saturday to take on DePauw in the Tigers’ season opener.
