Pella Christian was swept by a loaded field filled with ranked opposition in the Iowa City West volleyball tournament Saturday.
The Eagles fell to No. 10 in Class 5A Ankeny (21-12, 21-18), No. 3 in 2A Beckman Catholic (21-9, 21-11), Cedar Rapids Jefferson (21-16, 21-17), and No. 10 in Class 4A Iowa City Liberty (21-16, 21-18).
No. 6 in Class 4A Pella also had stiff competition at the Southeast Polk “Metro Classic” volleyball invitational in Pleasant Hill, and finished 2-2 on the day.
The Lady Dutch defeated No. 11 in 5A Southeast Polk (21-11, 16-21, 15-8) and Des Moines Roosevelt. Pella fell to to Class 5A No. 3 Valley in two sets and Council Bluffs-Abraham Lincoln (21-13, 21-18).
Pella travels to Norwalk Tuesday, while the Eagles will hit the road to take on No. 12 in 5A Indianola that night.
