A local rivalry is renewed on the gridiron tonight, as the Pella Christian Eagles and PCM Mustangs will fight in their last non-district tilts of the season.
Pella Christian has gotten the better of PCM in their rivalry, owning the overall series lead 7-3 and winning the last 6 contests. The Eagles are 2-1, and coming off one of their biggest regular season wins ever last week against Regina. Coach Rich Kacmarynski says that while the players, alumni and fans have certainly enjoyed the aftermath of that win, his guys quickly turned their attention to what lies ahead tonight.
“I think our guys have been focused all week. I don’t anticipate a Regina hangover or anything like that, and I think our guys realize it’s a stepping stone to bigger and better things.”
The Mustangs are undefeated and in high spirits, and head coach Greg Bonnett tells KNIA/KRLS Sports these two teams always bring a ton of high flying athletes into the mix, but this game will be won in the trenches
“No doubt about it I think its all up front for us. Its just a matter of making sure our snaps are secure and pick up their movements and stunts on their defensive line and linebackers when they blitz.”
Pella Christian has won the last six matchups, and own a 7-3 record in the all-time series with the Mustangs.
The game can be heard live tonight on both the KRLS2 and KRLS3 stream on KNIAKRLS.com. Trevor Castle and Larry Hessing will call the Eagles perspective on KRLS2 and listen to KRLS3 to hear the Mustangs perspective with Andrew Swadner and Jeff Lindsay on the call. Pregame for both broadcasts begins at 6:30, with kickoff at 7pm.
