The Pleasantville football team could not close out non-district play strong last night, as they fell to Albia on the road 29-6.
If a game were won strictly on field position the Blue Demons would have taken the Trojans to the woodshed. Luckily for Pleasantville, field position is only part of the equation and despite the ball being in their own territory all first half, the Trojan defense stiffened with they needed to and only trailed 6-0 at the break. Coming out of half the highly advertised Blue Demon air attack came to life, as they marched right down the field on five pass plays. Albia tacked on another score to make it a 20-0 lead when Pleasantville finally got some rhythm offensively. They methodically drove down the field utilizing the run game and capped it off with a three-yard touchdown run by Cael Lester. Cutting the lead to 20-6, the Blue Demons delivered the dagger on the ensuing kickoff when Nathan Crall took it 80 yards to the house to open up a lead the Trojans could never recover from. Lester was a bright spot with 27 carries for 117 yards. Head Coach Mack Jorth tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they need to do a better job of executing from start to finish.
Albia improves to 1-3 while the Trojans drop to 1-3. Pleasantville will open up district play at Colfax-Mingo next week.
