Here’s a recap of the weekend’s sports performances from Central College:
-Firing one of the lowest scores in school history, Brittany Coppess turned in a career-low 73 as the Central College women’s golf team surged to an 11th place tie of a finish at the highly competitive 13-team D3 Classic Sunday.
-The Central Women’s Tennis team dropped a pair of conference road matches this weekend, falling Wartburg 8-1 Saturday and Luther 7-2 Sunday
-In an all too familiar storyline for the Central College men’s soccer team, an overtime goal by Knox College sent the Dutch home with a 1-0 loss on Saturday. It marks the third time this season that Central was defeated by an overtime goal and the second time it happened in the second overtime. The Dutch fell 3-1 on Friday to Illinois Wesleyan as well.
-Freshman outside hitter Landry Luhring had double-doubles in both matches and the Central College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Red Hawks Invitational Saturday. Central took a five-set thriller against Ripon College 25-11, 20-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-8 in the opener before falling in four sets against Carroll University. On Friday, they split with Lawrence (3-1 win) and Wisconsin Lutheran (3-0 loss), going 2-2 on the weekend.
-The Dutch women’s soccer team dropped a 3-2 contest to Illinois Wesleyan Sunday.
