After another day of heat, autumn will breeze its way into Iowa overnight tonight.
A round of strong thunderstorms is expected between 10 p.m. and midnight in Marion County and most of south central Iowa. There is a marginal risk for severe weather, with strong wind the primary threat, with the potential for heavy rainfall as well. A higher severe threat exists north and west of a line from southwest to northeast Iowa through Des Moines.
After the storms pass through, much cooler temperatures are in the forecast this weekend, with daytime highs in the mid-60s to low-70s.
