Homecoming week hit its peak on Friday in downtown Knoxville.
The annual Knoxville High School homecoming parade wound through the square downtown; the homecoming court and the football team were the guests of honor, and more than 50 floats and vehicles were a part of the parade…including the KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio.
This was the busiest day of the week-long celebration, as alumni gathered for formal and informal events; students got out of school early, and some adults left work, in order to join the celebration.
But the homecoming game itself was a disappointment; the Panthers scored on their opening drive, but Grinnell responded with 19 unanswered points to come away with a 19-7 victory.
