Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg is scheduled to attend the Future Ready Iowa Summit in Pella on Monday.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is also planning to attend and make remarks. The event is representative of a statewide strategy to close the workforce skills gap by encouraging more Iowans to pursue education and training by year 2025. The Iowa legislature passed the Future Ready Iowa Act earlier this year with unanimous, bipartisan support. Educators, business leaders, human resource professionals, economic developers, community organizers and interested citizens are encouraged to attend the free event, which will focus on engaging collaborative partners in projects to improve the region’s workforce. Participants will learn about Future Ready Iowa, the workforce initiative that aims to close Iowa’s skilled workforce gap by encouraging 70 percent of working Iowans to achieve education or training beyond high school by 2025. Attendees will also have a chance to connect with businesses across the state that are implementing solutions to build a qualified workforce. Registration is open, but space is limited.
