Applications are now being taken for the latest Habitat for Humanity project home…a house which was moved intact from Pella to Knoxville in the spring.

From now through November 1st, homeowners can apply for the opportunity to help rehabilitate this house and eventually move in; even though it’s in one piece, work is still necessary to make it habitable.

Robin Pfalzgraf is Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Marion County; she tells KNIA/KRLS News this the second time they’ve moved a house and worked on it, and this version holds a lot of promise for whomever winds up living inside.

“A beautiful home, beautiful; and there’s some things about this home that most Habitat homes wouldn’t have,’ Pfalzgraf says. “I think it’s a unique program, and we’ve enjoyed the first home that we’re working on and look forward to this one.”

The future owners are required to devote a certain amount of time towards the house project, or community service; Pfalzgraf says those who aren’t inclined towards construction may help in other ways, by cleaning up, providing food or performing other non-construction services.
