Mother Nature may have reared her ugly head last night at Eagle Lane, but the Pella Christian football team surely didn’t rear theirs, as they STORMED past Colfax-Mingo 42-0 in a rain shortened game.

Despite the contest being only two quarters long, there was nothing short about the night, as the game didn’t get underway until an hour and 50 minutes past it’s scheduled start time due to lightning and torrential downpours. Once the two teams finally got on the field, the Eagles made the Tigerhawks’ long night even longer. As heard on the KRLS2 Stream, after the Eagle defense forced a quick three and out to start the game, the offense wasted no time marching right down the field and capitalized on a seven-yard touchdown run by Jase Amelse. Noah “TreimTime” Treimer took over from there, as he scored on the next three Eagle possessions including runs from one and 56-yards out as well as an 11 yard receiving score. Pella Christian was able to spread the love late in the half, as Lawson Bruxvoort had a 14 yard receiving touchdown and Luke Mulder took a fumble recovery 30 yards to the house to cap off the scoring. After the lightning started up once again at the break, both teams decided enough was enough and called it quits. Dan Jungling was efficient through the air going five of seven for 85 yards and two scores. Treimer and Amelse each amassed over 100 yards on the ground, with 136 and 102, respectively. While the offense brought the flash (along with the lightning), head coach Rich Kacmarynski tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the defense was something special.

“Our defensive line was really quick off the ball. We were able to get into the backfield on both pass and run. They had zero yards rushing and that just shows how sharp our defense was tonight.”

Pella Christian improves to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district play while Colfax-Mingo drops to 4-3 (1-2 district). The Eagles hit the road next week when they travel to Woodward-Granger (4-3) on Friday.
