A flood watch has been issued in Marion County and most of central Iowa for numerous rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected through Wednesday.

An additional 1-3″ of rain is possible during the time of the watch (10 a.m. Wednesday), with higher amounts possible depending on the track of thunderstorms.

Pella (KNIA/KRLS) – 2.69″ (.62″ since Sunday morning)
Knoxville (KNIA/KRLS) – 3.33″ (.76″ since Sunday morning)
Lake Red Rock – 3.48″ (.83″ since Sunday morning)
English Creek near Knoxville – 4.5″ (.85″ since Sunday morning)
Des Moines River near Tracy – 4.41″ (.96″ since Sunday morning)
Cedar Creek near Bussey – 5.18″ (1.43″ since Sunday morning)
Des Moines River near Swan – 1.76″ (.75″ since Sunday morning)
White Breast Creek near Melcher-Dallas – 2.36″ (.4″ since Sunday morning)

The following roads are closed due to flooding, according to the Marion County Road Department:
130th Place off of Highway 14 at English Creek (since today)
Elk Horn Drive from Park Hills to Dubuque Drive (since Oct. 4th)
115th Place south of G40 (since Sept. 7th)
Kennedy Street near S71 (since Sept. 7th)
160th Avenue north of Jersey (since Sept. 11th)

The South Overlook boat ramp will be closed at Lake Red Rock until further notice due to rising lake levels. The portion of the Volksweg Trail around the Marina Cove bay will also be closed.

Boat ramps that are currently open include those at the Whitebreast Recreation Area, Marina Cove and Elk Rock State Park (just off of Highway 14) for lake access, and Howell Station Landing for river access below the dam. Parking areas at the Marina Cove ramp are limited during times of high water.
