Newton’s running game was too much for the Knoxville Football Squad to overcome last night as the Panthers fell to the Cardinals 55-12 in the season finale for 2018 as heard on KNIA. Newton scored first less than a minute into the game to take a lead it would never surrender, however Knoxville drew close in the first quarter when Kieren Nichols hooked up with Mike Hudson for a 17 yard pass, but Newton scored two more times to take command. Nichols would score again early in the second quarter, scampering 75 yards to make it 21-12, but it was all Newton after that. Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports, he thought his team could throw on Newton, but they did not take advantage what the Cardinals gave his team. Nichols led Knoxville’s ground game with 123 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Knoxville finishes 2018 with a 3-6 record.
