The Simpson Storm twice had a two touchdown lead evaporate but held on to pick up the victory against the Duhawks of Loras College 38-33 Saturday afternoon.

The gusting wind affected both teams, only allowing teams going with the win to have any sort of passing attack. The Storm got going right out of the gate with QB Tanner Krueger scrambling 72 yards for a touchdown, and then following that up with a touchdown strike to Austin Hronich.

Loras came back with a pair of touchdowns of their own with a missed extra point to make it 14-13, with the Storm scoring once more before the halftime break. Simpson came out firing in the third, giving up a touchdown but scoring three of their own to make it 38-19 going into the final frame. Loras came back again however, scoring a touchdown and following that up with a blocked punt touchdown to make it 38-33. After forcing another punt, the Duhawks offense drove into Simpson territory with minutes remaining, but an interception by Vaughn Brasseaux would seal the victory.

Simpson running back Cam Bunting had 44 carries for 222 yards and a touchdown, as the Storm improve to 4-1 in American Rivers Conference play. Simpson goes on the road next Saturday to take on Luther.
