While it was far from a perfect night on the floor, the Pella Christian volleyball team swept Cardinal (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) at the final match on Eagle Lane of the season.

Despite 17 hitting errors and 12 missed serves, the Eagles were able to pull away late in all three matches. Head Coach John Evenhouse tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they will have to play better in all phases, especially hitting and serving, if they want to be a team heading to the state tournament.

“It was just very frustrating to watch,” he says. “We weren’t closing our blocks very well to the 3rd game, when we did. We served the ball worse than we’ve served all year long, with a lot of balls into the nets…it was a frustrating performance, but we made enough good plays to win.”

Emma Huisman led the Eagles with 10 kills to just one error, two aces, and 18 assists. Pella Christian moves to 19-17 and travels to Pleasantville Thursday to take on the Trojans in the 2A Regional Semifinals.
