The history record book has experienced plenty of changes at PCM High School this fall and Wes Cummings is to blame. The senior added one more milestone to his resume last week in the football team’s regular season finale win against Centerville.

A week after breaking the career touchdown record, Cummings notched up the career rushing record on Friday that was previously held by Hutch Burns with 3,304 yards. After a 152-yard performance, the torch was passed to Cummings who now sits at 3,412 career-rushing yards. In true unselfish fashion, Cummings tells KNIA/KRLS Sports these records are not accomplished without his teammates.

“I have had 11 linemen in my time and these records are just as much theirs as they are mine. They are doing the dirty work upfront. It’s fun to have my name next to a record but the ultimate goal is to end up in the dome and that’s the focus right now.”

The first step to reach that goal is Friday when the Mustangs (9-0) welcome Kuemper Catholic (5-4) to town for the first round of the class 2A playoffs.
