Today marks the final day for voters to obtain absentee ballots, and the Marion County Courthouse will be open for last-minute applicants.
Today is the last day the County Auditor’s Office can mail out ballots; by law, the cutoff date is ten days before the election, and since that usually falls on a Saturday the state also requires the office to be open.
Voters may come to the Marion County Courthouse between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to request their absentee ballot; County Auditor Jake Grandia says you must request one for each election, since they are not automatically renewed.
After Saturday, voters who have not registered or want to get their names off the inactive voter list may do so at the Auditor’s office during regular business hours, right up until Monday, November 5th; more identification and proof of residency will be required. They may also do so at the polls on Election Day.
