The Simpson Storm football team survived a late comeback attempt on the road against Luther Saturday afternoon, winning 27-17. Simpson got out to a fast start, with a pair of rushing touchdowns from Cam Bunting and a receiving touchdown from Austin Hronich to take a 20-3 halftime lead. Luther grabbed momentum in the second half, scoring once in the third and another early in the fourth to cut the lead down to 3. Simpson came right back and scored a touchdown to preserve the two score lead with Bunting’s third rushing td of the day. A forced fumble by Michael Connor then allowed the Storm offense to run out the clock. Bunting led the way with 153 yards on the ground, and the three scores. Simpson improved to 5-1 in American Rivers Conference play, and hosts Dubuque for senior day next Saturday.
